Welcome to SSID
Social Services of the Dominican Churches is a Christian organization that has been working in the Dominican Republic since 1962. As Christians we work to address the needs of the poorest through community organizing, educational projects, and leadership, so that those we work with can become agents of change in their own community's development.
Who We Are
We are a Christ centered, inter-denominational, nonprofit organization in the Dominican Republic. Our members come from different denominations throughout the country. As Christians we work together to address the causes of the social, economic, and political problems that face our country.
What We Do
We work with rural communities and provide them with programs in the areas of education, health services, agriculture and food security, microcredit and microfinance, aquaculture, access to water, and emergency preparedness. This holistic approach allows us to leverage the unique talents and resources of each community.
Because of the work that SSID does with families and agriculture there is better access to fresh vegetables and there are less children that are malnourished. Children are now well fed, so they can learn more in school and will have a brighter future. It is all a part of SSID's holistic approach to community development.
